Sourdough Bread with Olive Oil and Sea Salt

This rustic sourdough bread is infused with the rich flavors of olive oil and sea salt. It has a crisp crust and a soft, tangy interior, making it the perfect accompaniment to any meal.

 

Ingredients

  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • Extra olive oil and sea salt, for topping

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sourdough starter, warm water, olive oil, and sea salt. Stir until the dough comes together.

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a clean towel. Let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for 2-3 hours, or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a round loaf. Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet.

Brush the top of the loaf with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.

Bake the bread for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and crusty.

Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
